minus 6 months – Mum’s not well

Zuhre wasn’t well. She had stomach pains, swollen abdomen and was feeling nauseous in the morning. Pregnancy was out of the question according to our genius gyno because Zuhre had had an injection and Zuhre was subsequently prescribed anti-nausea pills.

Anyway, we went to the Vincent Palotti hospital for an ultra sound scan and imagine our suprise when we saw a little tiny potato inside her again. These are high resolution scans taken later but as you can see you was expecting a baby that had a little foot (click on the images to enlarge);

Anyway, Zuhre, being the type of woman she is, battled on until she felt a kick inside and knew something was going on.

She took a pregnancy test and it was positive and told me at 4 o’clock in the morning – I thought I was having a bad dream.

The baby had a little hand and face;

And it also had a little…

Its a boy

… well it was a boy.

The problem for us was Zuhre’s age. At this age she had a higher probability of having a Down’s Syndrome baby than many parents would accept as well as any other genetic abnormalities, but it was too late to act on a unfavourable amniocentesis and in any case we didn’t care and the test might have harmed a healthy baby – so we decided to go for a foetal assessment ultrasound scan to prepare ourselves for the worst.

The foetal assessment suggested that things were looking promising based on an assessment of baby’s gut, heart, feet and neck width;
